My surprise birthday at Board and Brush (located on a cute corner of downtown Somerville) was a huge hit! Everyone had a great time creating art together, and Lorrie and Sabine made the experience seamless with detailed instructions and personalized guidance. Their approach let guests relax, socialize, and enjoy working on their projects at their own pace. The studio itself is spacious, with plenty of room for food and mingling, so it never felt crowded and everyone could create and connect comfortably.
Board and Brush is a hands-on DIY creative experience where you can make custom wood signs or home-decor projects in a fun, guided workshop setting. This cozy workshop is filled with beautifully done projects for inspiration, smells of wood, oils and paint and is accented with relaxing music in the background. So an all around friendly vibe. Can come with friends, partners, or family, or even book your own private events here (celebrations, team building, etc.). The owner and staff here is always friendly and super helpful. Studio is also in the heart of Somerville surrounded by wonderful variety of restaurants to visit before or after creating your unique project. Did I mention you can also BYOB :-)
I had an absolutely wonderful time at Board & Brush in Somerville. I was scrambling at the last minute to find an anniversary gift for my boyfriend, and they totally came through. Even though I signed up super late, the staff made me feel welcomed, and the whole experience was better than I could’ve hoped for. Melissa made the night truly special. Despite our class being on the larger side, she was incredibly patient, informative, and diligent with every single person. She made sure I was happy with my personalized stencil, asked thoughtful questions, and genuinely cared about how my project turned out. What stood out most was her dedication to the craft. After hearing her story and how hard she works, I could tell this was a very special small business. She didn’t rush anyone out when the class was ending and she offered honest, constructive feedback to improve little details, even if it meant staying a bit later or tweaking things herself so we didn’t leave with something half-done or “just okay.” Because of her, I left with a piece I’m really proud of. I also really wish I’d signed up for their rewards/membership program from the start (lesson learned), because I will definitely be going back. This studio is great for any occasion: an anniversary, bridal event, birthday, date night, or just a fun night out. Even though I went alone, I felt totally comfortable and engaged with the instructors and those seated around me the entire night. Highly recommend — but don’t wait until the last minute to book like I did!
Such and awesome girls night out! My project was kinda awful, and amazing staff helped me turn it almost perfect! I can’t wait to display it. Everyone was friendly and super helpful. We will absolutely be back!
My friend and I had so much fun doing our time crunch projects that we're going back for full projects! And bringing friends! Abby was so helpful and had such a friendly disposition that we hope to have her help in our future classes as well!
