If you want actual, real ube flavored drinks and sweets, this is the place! I've come here many times and have never been disappointed. Service is nice and friendly. Seating is limited- only 2 chairs with a small table and along the windows. If it's a nice day, there are multiple benches along the street outside. Highly recommend the ube float latte, ube monster milkshake, and the ube crinkle cookies. Ube banana bread pudding was light on the ube, still delicious. I actually prefer the pandan crinkle cookies over the ube ones. They had a summer special, halo halo, that was delicious but too much even for 2 people. Parking: street or lot (paid). Street fills up quickly on weekends. Will definitely return to try the other drinks and sweets!
The good Ube Yam is delicious! I can only compare to one other really good Filipino cafe in Union NJ and I have to say, the actual Ube yam in my Ube latte makes a difference. A must try! We also got the Ube mamon( like a pound cake) and it was not too sweet and delicious. The bad When the Yam disappeared in my latte, the coffee turned into, coffee. It might have just been my latte but the Ube shaken espresso was also good and the Ube flavor stayed throughout the entirety of drinking. Service was also slow but itβs possible we just caught them at a bad time as workers were trickling in. The Verdict Unfortunately, I canβt give 5 stars because of the above. But I will 100% recommend to try this place out and get the βUbe experienceβ that they described.
I tried Kafe de Manila for the first time today and I say you definitely should give it a try. I ordered their UBE crinkle cookies for $8.29. You get six cookies in a pack. The cookies were worth it for sure. I enjoyed the soft texture of the UBE crinkle cookies. It sort of reminded me of a sugar cookie taste wise with UBE incorporated into it. Then for my drink I got the UBE-Yam milkshake ($8.49) and that is definitely a must try. I honestly did not feel guilty drinking that particular milkshake just because it wasnβt super sweet. I most definitely got the UBE-Yam flavor from the milkshake. As for the service, it was good and the people working were nice. The only thing I could say is that it isnβt a place you can really sit and relax just because itβs small and thereβs not really much seating.
Cool spot in Somerville for a cold drink and desserts. I had the iced ube latte float and my daughter had the matcha version. We thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff is friendly and courteous.
Enthusiastic staff willing to explain the various choices on their menu. If you love pandan and ube, you must come and visit. My brother got the pandan Vietnamese coffee, and I got the pandan cold brew. Both are good, but personally I think the Vietnamese coffee tasted better. I do want to try the calamansi drinks next time, a light refreshing drink while you stroll around downtown Somerville! While we were there, they seemed to have a lot of returning customers, and I plan to go again. Just know that it is a cafe where you pick up and go; there is limited seating, and it is more for waiting patrons than to sit and hang out.
