West Main is about to smell different.
Redolia Perfumery is opening at 92 West Main Street with a grand opening planned for September 12. Patch calls it New Jersey’s first niche perfume store in Somerset County. The shop says it is the state’s only dedicated niche perfumery. Curated luxury and artisan fragrances. Not a mall kiosk. A storefront on the same walk people already use for dinner and coffee.
Somerville’s downtown has been taking new names all year. MilkShake Factory opened at 189 West Main in June. Moka and Co. brought Yemeni coffee to 15 West Main at the end of August. Middlemist on East Main started as a meadery in April and then pushed into morning hours with a full coffee shop. Main Street keeps filling in.
Redolia lands in that stretch of new openings. Someone walking from Division toward the west end will pass dessert, coffee, and now perfume. The town does not need a slogan for that. The block is doing the work.
If you are downtown the weekend of the twelfth, the door at 92 West Main is the new one. Go smell what they put on the shelf. That is how a store becomes part of the Friday night map.
