Division Street got quiet a little earlier this month. Not empty. Just without the stage lights that had been running most Fridays and Saturdays since May.
Somerville put the last two Summer Stage nights on the calendar for September 4 and 5, six to nine, same strip where people already walk for dinner. The Kickback Band closed Friday. Blame It On The Girl closed Saturday. That was the end of the posted 2026 lineup that started back in May with Tyrone Stackhouse Project and worked its way through School of Rock nights, Buckshot Band, and a long list of local and regional names.
Cruise Night ended on that same Friday. Music Fest is still ahead on September 20. Summer Stage was the weekly midweek-and-weekend habit in between, the reason someone walking past Division after work had a free show without buying a ticket.
If you caught even one of those sets, you know the shape of it. Chairs along the street. Restaurants keeping the doors open. Kids who stay for one song and adults who stay for three. The town already pointed fall toward Spooky Night Market on October 8 and the rest of the holiday calendar. Until then, Division goes back to ordinary evenings, and the season lives in whoever still has a photo from under those lights.
